Let’s dive in!
1) 🎁 Drops
Product drop works because it leverages FOMO, social proof, and scarcity to create a sense of urgency for consumers to purchase a product or service. This post covers the evolution of product drops and the four main modes of drops and how consumer founders should best use drops to their advantage.
2) 🏌️Curated
Curated empowers experts/enthusiasts to make money from talking about their biggest passions and helps shoppers to make the right purchase with the guidance of a domain expert. In this post, we dive into the back story of Curated, the economics of Curated’s business model, along with its unique expert-led growth framework. A great read for folks in e-comm/marketplaces.
3) 🎨 Figma
Figma, one of the biggest tech darlings of 2022, was recently acquired by Adobe for a whopping $20B. This post dives into Figma’s genesis, its main differentiators compared to other competitors and its secret community-led growth engine. This post is my personal favorite. A ton of great learnings for founders who want to build a brand with a cult-like following.
4) 🦸Superhuman of x
Superhuman, known for creating the fastest email experience, is the category-defining company in the productivity space. Not only did they revolutionize how to build a superior user experience, but they also pioneered the frameworks for how to build product-market fit and onboard customers in a delightful way. Since then, many “Superhuman of x” startups have entered the space - they are using superior design, better collaboration, and useful integrations to disrupt old-school productivity tools that had not changed much in the past decades.
5) 🤖 Opportunities in generative AI
Generative AI has the potential to be another massive platform that will propel the next generation of startups. We are hitting an inflection point where you no longer need tons of money or be a Stanford AI Ph.D. to create a high-quality AI-powered application. This new technological advancement will unlock tons of entrepreneurship opportunities for consumer founders. This post dives into opportunities in the space.
See you in 2023 👋,
Leo
